Drawing Chain
A drawing-and-guessing chain that turns simple prompts into funny surprises.
How to play
Simple rules
Have paper ready before you explain the rules. Explain the goal in one sentence, run a short first round, then let the group settle into the rhythm.
- Each person writes a simple phrase at the top of a sheet.
- Pass the sheet left and draw the phrase.
- Fold the original phrase away and pass again.
- Alternate guessing and drawing until sheets return.
Best use
When this works well
Good fit
Use it when mixed ages need something simple enough to join without reading a rulebook.
Maybe skip it
Skip it if younger players are tired or if the activity depends on patience they do not have right now.
Variation
Change the format
Use classroom vocabulary or family memories as prompts.
Tips
Make it work better
- Let a younger player choose the next prompt, object, or theme whenever possible.
- Keep the first round simple and treat it as practice.
- Let players pass if they need a moment.
- Stop while the activity still has energy instead of stretching it too long.
